Big Announcement - Stretch Goal

Hi KG Community,
It seems like every time we write we have news to celebrate. We’ve now surpassed the $50K mark, hitting 300% of our goal! Those are some pretty remarkable numbers if you ask us!
To show our gratitude and help better fulfill the needs of your every day, we have been exploring additional product options as stretch goals. We were tasked with the manufacturing side of things while we tasked you, our community, with voting to share your preferences with us.
After much deliberation, we’re pleased to announce that we will be producing and delivering a GREY V-NECK KG TEE! In addition to the current rewards, this will also be available by express shipping before the end of 2019.
Excited and wondering how can you get in on this? A survey will be sent out after the campaign to collect your order details!
What Were the Survey Results?
After receiving nearly 200 responses, we have (well, Google Forms has) tallied the results of your preferences! Here are some interesting findings that helped us with our decision:
- In terms of combination preference, the grey colour x crew-neck collar ranked #1 (consistent with our findings way back when we began this journey…whew!)
- In terms of colour preferences, there was strong interest across the board. Black was a close runner up to the grey colour, followed by navy.
- We also learned that exactly half of you were just as interested in v-necks as crew-necks, while scoop necks appealed to a small number of people.
Conclusion: It suffices to say there was a lot of appetite for both v-necks and additional colours.
So, Why No Additional Colours?
There's no doubt that we also wanted to be able to deliver additional colours. As avid wearers of our own products, and based on your continued feedback, this is very important to us. However, this was not feasible for this campaign, primarily due to manufacturing constraints. If you’d like to better understand this, keep reading.
Our funding goal was thoughtfully set at $17K as this amount would ensure that we could, at a minimum, deliver the original versions of the KG Tee and KG Socks that you've seen and already rallied behind. Unfortunately, even the exceedingly stellar funding we have received is not enough to meet the minimum order quantity requirements for any additional colours.
To further explain, you’ll have to understand our manufacturing process at a high level, as it varies that of basic garments:
1. Sourcing raw materials
2. Processing raw materials
3. Dying materials (for colour)
4. Treating materials (for technical benefits like odour-resistance)
5. Fabric weaving, cutting and sewing
Why is this significant? Our materials for the current KG Tee are already processed, dyed and treated. For this reason, it is possible for us to adjust cuts to accommodate the additional v-neck option without spreading ourselves too thin, nor compromising quality. However, to introduce an additional colour, we would need to purchase and process an entirely new batch of fabrics. This is only possible in large minimum order quantities, which effectively increases the quantities in all the preceding stages as well. Based on our current level of funding does not quite get us to the amount we need to achieve this without compromising on the quality we've promised.
Conclusion: With all of that said, we know you’ve got your eyes set on additional colours, as do we. However, keep an eye out - these may come a lot sooner than you think!
Hopefully, this explanation helps to provide valuable context on the tough decisions we faced. At the same time, we hope it doesn't stunt any excitement about the additional product option we've announced!

Hi Everybody,
Many of you have asked about different variations of the KG Tee and Socks as stretch-goals for the campaign. We've been working diligently with our factory to examine potential options based on the funding we've received.
With that, we are excited to announce that we will be introducing an additional collar option for the KG Tee! We are also continuing to work to expand our colour options, which many of you have expressed interest in. However, we are still navigating some challenges on this front. More to come on this!

In less than 24 hours, we hit 100% of our $17K minimum funding goal! Even more remarkable, we’ve now surpassed the $30K mark thanks to the generous support of you and over 450 backers! What’s next?
